Provenance: By descent in the artist's family. Not previously

The works up for auction by husband and wife sculptors Olga
and Siegfried Wagner have been passed down through the
artists' family, and have not been offered for sale in recent
years. The couple were two of the few Danish exponents of
the Art Nouveau style or the Arts and Crafts style at the turn
of the 20th century and made quite a distinctive contribution
to Danish art history. Both Olga and Siegfried, who were
highly sophisticated in their choice of materials and processing,
were acclaimed artists in their day and achieved museum
representation. They carried out countless public and private
decorating assignments, the most famous of which is probably
Siegfried Wagner's "Lurblæserne" (The Lure Blowers")(1914)
on Rådhuspladsen (city square) in Copenhagen, but they have
since slipped into near oblivion.
