How many publishing channels are SvD using today to publish their content?<br />
The publishing channels that we use today are the traditional news<strong>paper</strong>, the webpage, wap,<br />
AvantGo and approximately 20 RSS. The RSS’s are used to deliver news to partners who<br />
publish news on their website without having a news desk <strong>of</strong> their own.<br />
Pilgrim (2002) describes RSS as a XML <strong>for</strong>mat <strong>for</strong> syndicating news.<br />
AvantGo is a s<strong>of</strong>tware intended <strong>for</strong> publishing on hand held computers.<br />
Which systems does Svenska Dagbladet use in their production flow?<br />
Impress - an old Editorial system nowadays owned by Adnode.<br />
Scoop Page Track – Controls the news<strong>paper</strong> content in the traditional news<strong>paper</strong> production<br />
and is the same system as the imposition.<br />
Quark XPress – Editing tool<br />
Picture database<br />
<strong>Production</strong> Management System – Gets content from Impress, turns the in<strong>for</strong>mation into<br />
webbased <strong>for</strong>mats, WAP, RSS, AvantGo.<br />

We are in the middle <strong>of</strong> a purchase <strong>of</strong> a new Editorial system or CMS <strong>for</strong> the printed edition<br />
but it is a lengthy process. The candidates that we are looking at have their upsides and<br />
downsides and it is hard to decide on which system is the most suitable <strong>for</strong> our needs.<br />
