Academic Probation<br />
(Any one <strong>of</strong> the following may result in academic probation.)<br />
• cumulative and/or semester GPA below 70 percent<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> or withdrawal from any didactic course<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> or withdrawal from any experiential course in any grading period<br />
• repeating an academic year<br />
• placement in the mandatory extended program<br />
Academic Suspension<br />
(Any one <strong>of</strong> the following may result in academic suspension.)<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> or withdrawal from any didactic course upon repeating it<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> or withdrawal from any experiential course upon repeating it<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> two didactic courses in a semester<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> two advanced experiential courses<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> three or more courses during a student’s academic enrollment<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> any course while on an extended program<br />
Academic Dismissal<br />
(Any one <strong>of</strong> the following may result in academic dismissal.)<br />
• semester or cumulative GPA below 70 percent in two consecutive grading periods<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> three or more courses in one grading period<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> five or more courses during a student’s academic enrollment<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> an experiential course in any two grading periods whether or not they are consecutive<br />
• failure <strong>of</strong> any course upon returning from suspension<br />
• remaining on academic probation for more than one year with continuing failures<br />
• more than seven years to complete the entry-level program<br />
• more than five years to complete the postbaccalaureate program<br />
• legal, moral, behavioral, ethical, or academic dishonesty or pr<strong>of</strong>essional misconduct<br />
• determination by the dean that there are factors that would interfere with or prevent the<br />
student from practicing the highest quality <strong>of</strong> pharmacy<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s on academic probation will remain at that status until their GPA is raised appropriately or<br />
failed courses/experiences are remediated, retaken, or retested and passed, or as determined by the<br />
dean or the dean’s designee. During the warning or probation period, students will not be allowed to<br />
register on the Web and must meet with an academic adviser each semester for manual registration.<br />
<strong>Student</strong>s should limit extracurricular activities and refrain from obtaining employment. <strong>Student</strong>s<br />
on academic probation will not be permitted to represent the college or hold <strong>of</strong>fice in any student<br />
organization. Permission to participate in extracurricular activities (e.g., pr<strong>of</strong>essional conferences,<br />
health fairs, mission trips) must be submitted in writing to the dean’s <strong>of</strong>fice and may be granted only<br />
by the dean <strong>of</strong> the college.<br />
Academic Promotion<br />
Promotion is defined as progression from one pr<strong>of</strong>essional student level to the next. A student will<br />
be promoted to the next pr<strong>of</strong>essional student level if the student has<br />
• satisfactorily completed all courses in that academic year<br />
• maintained satisfactory academic progress, with a GPA <strong>of</strong> 70 percent or better<br />
