MBA Awards

The purpose of the MBA Awards is to recognise and celebrate

the achievements of our top graduating MBAs each year – and

to bring their talents and skills to the attention of potential


Established in 2005 by then MBA Director Dr Steve Kay, the

awards are presented at a gala dinner at UQ’s historic Customs


The November event has become a highlight of the School’s

calendar and a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements

of our students.

The awards are made annually to students who have graduated

in semester one or are eligible to graduate in semester two.

The awards are as follows:

• Top MBA award

• director’s award (for leadership)

• Service to the community award

• Awards for excellence

• The dr Margeret Mittelheuser AM and RBS Morgans Ltd

Prize in accounting and finance.

Australian Institute of Company directors (AICd)

UQ Business School has partnered with the AICD to host the

Leaders’ Edge luncheon series.

The series features business leaders sharing their insights

around contemporary business issues.

As well as hearing from some outstanding presenters, the

lunches also provide valuable networking opportunities.

A recent speaker was Rio Tinto CEO Tom Albanese. His

presentation on Australia’s minerals future attracted an

audience of more than 600 people.
