<strong>MBA</strong> Program Features<br />

<strong>MBA</strong> Awards<br />

The purpose <strong>of</strong> the <strong>MBA</strong> Awards is to recognise and celebrate<br />

the achievements <strong>of</strong> our top graduating <strong>MBA</strong>s each year – and<br />

to bring their talents and skills to the attention <strong>of</strong> potential<br />

employers.<br />

Established in 2005 by then <strong>MBA</strong> Director Dr Steve Kay, the<br />

awards are presented at a gala dinner at <strong>UQ</strong>’s historic Customs<br />

House.<br />

The November event has become a highlight <strong>of</strong> the <strong>School</strong>’s<br />

calendar and a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements<br />

<strong>of</strong> our students.<br />

The awards are made annually to students who have graduated<br />

in semester one or are eligible to graduate in semester two.<br />

The awards are as follows:<br />

• Top <strong>MBA</strong> award<br />

• director’s award (for leadership)<br />

• Service to the community award<br />

• Awards for excellence<br />

• The dr Margeret Mittelheuser AM and RBS Morgans Ltd<br />

Prize in accounting and finance.<br />

Australian Institute <strong>of</strong> Company directors (AICd)<br />

<strong>UQ</strong> <strong>Business</strong> <strong>School</strong> has partnered with the AICD to host the<br />

Leaders’ Edge luncheon series.<br />

The series features business leaders sharing their insights<br />

around contemporary business issues.<br />

As well as hearing from some outstanding presenters, the<br />

lunches also provide valuable networking opportunities.<br />

A recent speaker was Rio Tinto CEO Tom Albanese. His<br />

presentation on Australia’s minerals future attracted an<br />

audience <strong>of</strong> more than 600 people.<br />
