3.1 Requirements
3.1.1 Since the publication of the GBE Guidelines in 1997, there have been a number of
legislative developments which prescribe the reporting requirements and obligations to be
met by GBEs.
3.1.2 The CAC Act for Commonwealth authorities and the Corporations Act for Commonwealth
companies comprehensively describe the main requirements and rules for the effcient
and timely fow of information between the government and the GBEs in line with their
accountability to the Parliament and the public. Accordingly, Finance proposes to update
the GBE Guidelines to refect these subsequent legislative changes.

3.1 The planning and reporting requirements for GBEs are contained in the CAC Act and
Orders, with additional requirements for Commonwealth companies contained in the
Corporations Act. The reporting requirements outlined in these Guidelines can be
summarised as follows:
