On Monday, September 5th, 1842, was given "I<br />

Puritani," with the same cast as in 1841, which, there-<br />

fore, will demand no further remarks. Unfortunately<br />

Madame Grisi was seized with severe illness from affection<br />

of the throat, and on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,<br />

Friday, and Saturday, Concerts were given ; but the ab-<br />

sence of the great prima-donna made a serious difference<br />

in the receipts, although all the other artistes assisted.<br />

Madame Grisi, having recovered from her severe indis-<br />

position, made her re-appearance on Monday, September<br />

1 2th, 1842, in " Norma" (cast as before, with the same<br />

artistes).<br />

On Wednesday, September i4th, "Anna Bolena" was<br />

given, announced, through mistake, as " for the first time<br />

in Dublin." Lablache's representation of Henry VIII.<br />

was quite in keeping with every character undertaken by<br />

that consummate artiste. Mario was Lord Richard<br />

Percy ; Grisi, Anna Bolena; Smeaton, Miss A. Hyland ;<br />

Lord Rochfort, Signor Salabert ; Sir Harry, Mr. Sala.<br />

Mr. Sala was a member of the Stock Company, and an<br />

artiste of much promise. He inherited much of the<br />

musical talent of his distinguished mother, Madame Sala,<br />

possessed dramatic ability of a high degree, with great
