" Rob Roy." Mr. Levey's benefit, in<br />

which Miss Bessie Herbert, Miss Agnes Markham, Mr.<br />

Granby, &c., performed.<br />

June 2ist. A series of Promenade Concerts commenced,<br />

under the direction of Herr Karl Meyder. A<br />

complete orchestra of first-rate artistes. Pit boarded, and<br />

Theatre fitted up on the Covent Garden plan. In addi-<br />

tion to the efficient band, instrumental soloists of<br />

European reputation performed nightly. First-rate vo-<br />

calists also lent their aid. The works of the great<br />

masters were given faultlessly, as all who came admitted.<br />

Result disastrous failure ! Another instance which ren-<br />

ders it difficult to deny the assertion of Karl Meyder, the<br />

late Alfred Mellon, and others who have essayed the like<br />

experiment, that Dublin is not a musical city in the true<br />

sense. .<br />
