August. Miss Inverarity, a soprano of Scottish birth,<br />

played a short and successful engagement.<br />

August 291)1. The Dublin Musical Festival commenced<br />

with a Full Dress Ball at the Rotundo.<br />

August 3oth. The first musical performance at the<br />

Royal Theatre. A Miscellaneous Concert.<br />

August 3 1 st. Afternoon performance. "The triumph<br />

of Faith," by Ferdinand Ries.<br />

September ist.<br />

" The Messiah."<br />

Paganini, then the wonder of the world, appeared<br />

during this Festival. The concerts at which he played<br />

were well attended; but the sacred performances were<br />

comparative failures. The name of the great violinist<br />

appeared in the bills on the last day, and a strange<br />

novelty presented, viz. : Paganini, mounted on a plat-<br />

form, performing his wonderful solos between the parts<br />

of " The Messiah." This event considerably increased<br />

the receipts. Messrs. Litolf and Adams' French Band<br />

performed at the Balls.<br />

November. Theatre opened for the Dramatic Season<br />

with " The School for Scandal." Sir Peter Teazle, Mr.<br />

David Rees; Lady Teazle, Miss Huddart (afterwards<br />

Mrs. Warner).<br />

November " 2 6th. The Warden of Galway," produced.<br />

A successful Tragedy by the Rev. Edward Groves.
