Madison Square Garden
Madison Square Garden, the world’s most famous arena, is
home to the New York Knicks of the National Basketball
Association, the New York Rangers of the National Hockey
League, the New York Liberty of the Women’s National
Basketball Association and the New York Titans of the National
Lacrosse League. The Garden also serves as a home to the St.
John’s basketball team. The Garden hosts college events such
as the Holiday Festival, the National Invitational Tournament,
the 2K Sports College Classic, the Big Apple Classic and
the Big East Tournament. The MSG complex, including the
WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden has hosted virtually
every form of entertainment and media events, from concerts,
to sports, to political conventions. The Garden has a seating
capacity of 19,763.
Hofstra has played several games at Madison Square Garden
in recent years, including the 1998, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2007
and 2009 Holiday Festivals, as well as a 2002 meeting with St.
John’s and a 2006 meeting with Dartmouth. The Pride won the
Holiday Festival in 1998, 1999 and 2006. The Pride is 9-9 alltime
at the Garden, but 8-6 in their last 14 games.
