Evolution by market
In 2001, the events market experienced a slow-down in its
activity as a result of the absence of major world events
and of the reduction of certain events budgets after the
years just before and after the turn of the new century
during which companies, states and local organizations
strongly invested.
The evolution in each of the business sectors during the
past four years is as follows :

In the world of Shows and Exhibitions, Générale Location
maintains and reinforces its position in France especially
when it comes to general installation for exhibitions,
rental of furniture and all the services related to these
activities. Major contracts were signed or renewed with
the principal organizers (Reed Exhibition, Première Vision,
Comexpo).

In 2001, Générale Location acquired Owen Brown, a
British company created in 1913 operating in the world of
installation and rental of temporary structures mainly
dedicated to the events market.
Moreover, Générale Location created three companies :
- GL USA, first in order to manage the contract of Salt
Lake City Olympic Games, and then to support the Group’s
development and to accompany French and European
clients in their operations in the United States of America,
Europe
- GL Europe Holding BV, the company which acquired
Owen Brown shares,
- GL Convenciones Barcelona, a company created with the
mission to manage the International Convention Center of
Barcelona.
Générale Location is thus at 31 Decembre 2001 directly
present in the following countries :

Net sales generated by the international activities increase by 14% and come to 55.3 m€ in 2001.
