2. High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) Specific to Wisconsin<br />

a. In addition to passing GED requirements students must also meet<br />

Civic Literacy, Health, and Career Awareness credits.<br />

ii. Process for Earning GED or HSED<br />

1. Student:<br />

a. Registers for ABE Success Skills<br />

b. Attends the 9 hour orientation<br />

c. Completes TABE test and sets goals<br />

d. Selects lab or structured classes<br />

e. Attends class and improves skills<br />

f. Takes a practice test to determine if they are ready for GED<br />

testing<br />

g. Registers to take Official GED test<br />

h. Completes GED test at Testing Center<br />

i. Achieves minimum required passing score on each GED test<br />

along with an overall minimum combined score<br />

j. Awarded an official GED/HSED credential from the State of WI<br />

k. Receives an official GED/HSED transcript from <strong>Gateway</strong><br />

<strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

2. GED<br />

a. GEDTS Approved Testing Centers - Kenosha, Racine, Walworth<br />

Counties<br />

i. <strong>Gateway</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />

1. Elkhorn, Kenosha, Racine Campuses<br />

2. Testing offered throughout week<br />

3. With rotating monthly Saturday test sessions<br />

4. RCI (Racine correctional institute)<br />

ii. Current GED Costs = $115 ($20 per test, $15 credential<br />

fee)<br />

b. Current GED Series:<br />

i. 2002 paper pencil GED test series is set to expire<br />

12/31/2013<br />

ii. 3000+ applicants in our district counties have started but<br />

not completed<br />

iii. Non-completers will forfeit passed tests if they don’t finish<br />

by the end of the year<br />

c. 2014 GED Series:<br />

i. Computer Based Test<br />

ii. Better Measure of career and college readiness<br />

iii. Increased overall cost ($20)<br />

3. GED Out Reach for Completion:<br />

a. GED Boot Camp<br />

b. Marketing efforts to non completers<br />

c. Website, Facebook, Twitter postings<br />

d. Robo Calls to non completers<br />

4. GED Boot Camp<br />
