PRIORITY THREE: IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF AND ACCESS TO CARE.<br />

Electronic <strong>Health</strong> Record & Meaningful Use<br />

The <strong>Nashville</strong> <strong>Area</strong> has 20 Tribes (3 federal and 17 Tribal sites) that provide<br />

direct patient care services. Inpatient Computerized Provider Order Entry<br />

(CPOE) has been implemented in two hospitals (100% of sites) in the<br />

<strong>Nashville</strong> <strong>Area</strong>. Computerized Provider Order Entry in outpatient settings<br />

has been implemented with seven <strong>Nashville</strong> <strong>Area</strong> Tribes (35% of sites). An<br />

additional 10 Tribes (50% of sites) are ready to implement CPOE in the near<br />

future. Another three Tribes (15% of sites) are currently scheduled for EHR<br />

on-site setups to move towards CPOE to assist in improving quality, safety,<br />

efficiency and reducing disparities in the <strong>Nashville</strong> <strong>Area</strong>.<br />

Since October 2010, the <strong>Nashville</strong> <strong>Area</strong> Office of Public <strong>Health</strong> (OPH),<br />

Department of Information Resource Management (DIRM), and the Office<br />

of Information Technology (OIT) Deployment Team have collaborated to<br />

conduct the <strong>Nashville</strong> <strong>Area</strong> EHR site visits at two federal sites and seven<br />

tribal sites to prepare for MU. Meaningful Use Overviews and Assessments<br />

have been provided to each tribe currently utilizing EHR as well as other<br />

Tribes in the EHR implementation process to assist them in understanding<br />

the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid <strong>Service</strong>s (CMS) Meaningful Use of<br />

EHR incentive program requirements.<br />
