No summer break here: again in <strong>2008</strong> cultural events will come fast<br />

and furious. Here is a brief overview to whet your appetite<br />

Austria and culture: these two words<br />

are virtually inseparable. A visitor on<br />

summer holidays here will encounter one<br />

of the country’s many festivals wherever<br />

he turns. In <strong>2008</strong>, for the second season,<br />

Bregenz’s famous floating stage will be the<br />

stupendous setting for Puccini’s riveting<br />

opera “Tosca” – an extraordinary experience<br />

combining classical music with state-<br />

of-the-art light and sound engineering<br />

against the picturesque backdrop of Lake<br />

Constance. And the Wörthersee Festival<br />

features opera greats as well as stars of<br />

pop music and musicals.<br />

Vienna is also an ideal place to spend<br />

warm summer nights enjoying cultural<br />

treats – and admission is often free. The<br />

impressive “Concert for Europe”, given by<br />
