These four words

so ubiquitous and diverse, present in so many forms and in such a small
space. Event series such as “musik+”, “Music in the Giant”, the “Festival
of Folk Tales and Legends”, the “Klangspuren” and the annual “Easter
Festival Tirol” guarantee culture and art of the highest level.

Gentian schnapps. The gentian, the blue flower known in German as “enzian” and
celebrated in countless songs and poems, can be found not only in mountain pastures; it is
also featured on the Austrian one-cent coin. The traditional gentian schnapps, however, is not
made from the blue blossoms, but rather from the roots of the yellow and red gentian. It takes

This Renaissance castle contains the collections of Archduke Ferdinand
II: the armoury includes original, rare late-Gothic and Renaissance
armour, while the art chambers show treasures, curiosities, rarities
and oddities of nature and art. With portraits by such famous painters as
Cranach, Arcimboldo, Velázquez
and Rubens, the
Habsburg Portrait Gallery
is a comprehensive overview
of four centuries of
court portraiture.

exhibition is presented
each summer. Opening
times: daily from 10am–
5pm, August to 7pm.

Crystal-clear Alpine lakes, craggy mountain summits, challenging highaltitude
hikes, demanding mountain-bike trails, knights’ festivals and
royal castles: the Holiday Region Reutte, located directly on the border to
Bavaria, impresses guests with its vast array of cultural and recreational attractions.
The “Ehrenberg Historical Sound and Vision” exhibit is open every
Tu. and Thu. beginning at 5pm. Follow in the footsteps of the knights and experience
hands-on history in the Ehrenberg European Castle Museum. The
new adventure playground and Knight Rüdiger make the medieval experience
exciting even for children. Bavaria’s royal castles of Neuschwanstein
and Hohenschwangau are only about 15 km away, and Reutte’s historic
town centre is a great place for a leisurely stroll. Hikers and mountaineers
will enjoy the splendid 1,700 m-high hiking area served by Reutte’s cableways,
featuring an Alpine flower garden and a barefoot hiking path.
