Austrian Open-Air Museum
in Stübing
Welcome to the valley of farms!
Avalley full of nature – a valley full of history and stories, told by the
approximately one hundred original farm buildings of the Austrian
Open-Air Museum in Stübing bei Graz. These structures, erected in
perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape, tell of farm life over
the past six centuries. Following a burbling brook that flows from
Burgenland to Vorarlberg, you stroll past fascinating farms buildings,
marvelling at Austria’s great variety of rural architecture, at the farm
gardens, animals and fields. Along the way you also watch people
doing traditional chores like making thatched roofs or splitting shingles,
and the craftspeople working here are happy to let you try your
hand at wood-carving, basket-weaving or wool-spinning. A walk
through this “vanished world” is a memorable and relaxing experience,
and the Open-Air Museum also offers a varied programme of events,
exhibitions and guided tours that provide the opportunity to rediscover
old skills and knowledge.
Offer.
We offer guided tours,
individual programmes
for groups and attractive
packages for various
target groups.
land. It is particularly known for its Blaufränkisch variety, and the central part of Burgenland is
even called “Blaufränkischland”. Wines made from the Blaufränkisch grape have a deep-red
