Lia (Carreon) Vaca ‘96 gave<br />

birth to twin boys, Anthony and<br />

Robert, on August 19, 2007 at<br />

UC Irvine. The twins joined their<br />

older siblings Daniel (three-yearsold)<br />

and Joelle (eight-years-old).<br />

another son on the way. Nate<br />

works for his family’s consulting firm<br />

(www.barberassociates.com). Nate<br />

is enrolled in the Executive MBA<br />

program at the University of Texas at<br />

San Antonio (UTSA). As a part of the<br />

MBA program, Nate and Marisa will<br />

be travelling to London and Brussels in<br />

late October, which should prove to be<br />

very interesting as they will be taking<br />

their six-week-old son with them!<br />

Christina (Copes) Tortomasi ’96<br />

received her Master’s Degree in<br />

Education in May, 2005 from Vanguard<br />

University. She also recently finished<br />

her fifth year as a kindergarten<br />

teacher in the Newport-Mesa school<br />

district. Monika Burke ’96 and Joe<br />

Dedic ’96 introduced Christina to<br />

her husband, Jeff Tortomasi, four years<br />

ago. Christina and Jeff were married<br />

over Memorial Day weekend (May<br />

24, 2008) in <strong>Santa</strong> Barbara, California.<br />

They celebrated their wedding with<br />

SMCHS alumni: Monika Burke ’96,<br />

Eleni (Constantine) Bicos ’96, Erin<br />

(Connolly) Burns ’97, Lia (Carreon)<br />

Vaca ’96, Nicole (Pierantoni) Munz<br />

’96, Joe Dedic ’96, Bryce Popko<br />

’96, and Alli Popko ’97. Jeff and<br />

Christina honeymooned on the<br />

islands of Lanai and Kauai in July and<br />

currently reside in Irvine, California.<br />

Shannon (Conley) Wilcox ’96<br />

and husband, Toby, welcomed their<br />

second child, Aubrey Evelyn, on<br />

March 7, 2008. Her big brother, Gavin<br />

Pierce (two-years-old), is excited<br />

about his sister and offers to help<br />

with everything. They been living in<br />

Tri-Cities, Washington for six years.<br />

Shannon and Toby will celebrate their<br />

seventh anniversary in October.<br />

Cameron Wilson ’96 and wife,<br />

Stephanie, welcomed their first child,<br />

daughter Taylor Suzanne Wilson, on<br />

June 3, 2008. They currently live in<br />

Virginia as Cameron completes his<br />

residency in urology at Virginia<br />

Commonwealth University<br />

<strong>School</strong> of Medicine.<br />

Class of 1997<br />

Nate Barber ’97 recently celebrated<br />

seven years of marriage to his wife,<br />

Marisa, who he met through his<br />

church while attending the University<br />

of Michigan. Nate and Marisa have<br />

a 19-month-old son, Tommy, and<br />

Erin (Connolly) Burns ’97 married<br />

David Burns on December 9, 2006.<br />

David is from Houston, Texas and<br />

graduated from St. Thomas <strong>Catholic</strong><br />

<strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> in 1996. He attended the<br />

University of Texas, class of 2000. Their<br />

wedding took place at St. Catherine<br />

of Siena <strong>Catholic</strong> Church in Laguna<br />

Beach and was followed by a reception<br />

at Franciscan Gardens in San Juan<br />

Capistrano. Many SMCHS alumni<br />

were a part of the wedding, including:<br />

Erin’s siblings, Brendan Connolly<br />

’96 and Katie Connolly ’00, and<br />

friends, Christina (Copes) Tortomasi<br />

’96, Alyse Gome ’97, Jacqueline<br />

(Wescombe) Hoppe ’97 and Anna<br />

Marie (Scutetta) Stouder ’95. Erin<br />

and David reside in Washington,<br />

D.C. They both work on Capitol Hill<br />

where they met and started dating<br />

five years ago. They are looking<br />

forward to starting a family soon.<br />
