Patrick Randall ’97 is a Surface
Warfare Lieutenant in the US Navy,
stationed in San Diego, California.
He is married to Kellie Young and
they welcomed their first child,
Riley Mackenzie, in August 2008.
focused on developing people who
are dedicated to seeking justice
and actively engaged in the civic
process. Ryan has thoroughly enjoyed
helping people put their faith into
action and will continue to use his
powers for good and not evil.
Katie (Ferguson) Rando ’97 resides
in Brazil. In June, she and her husband,
Adu, celebrated their five year wedding
anniversary. Also in June, her husband
was promoted and transferred
from Ribeirão Preto, Sao Paulo to
Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The
change was very exciting, but also
a little crazy since Katie was eight
months pregnant with their second
daughter, Julia! Their oldest daughter,
Isabella, is now two and she can’t
wait to meet her new baby sister!
Gabriela (Melendez) Roemhildt
’97 has been living in Oahu, Hawaii
for the last two years. She and her
husband have been married for six
years and they are expecting a new
baby in mid-July. The new baby will join
the couple’s three-year-old daughter,
Raina Elisabeth. Gabriela graduated
from California State University,
Dominguez Hills with her Master’s
Degree in Humanities in August.
Graham Ruby ’97 was awarded his
PhD in biology from MIT. For his
thesis, he did research in David Bartel’s
laboratory at MIT’s Whitehead Institute
studying the biology of small RNAs that
he was able to publish in the journals
– Nature, Cell, Molecular Cell, and
Genome Research. He has enjoyed
living in Cambridge, but in July, he
returned to the west coast to start his
postdoc at UC San Francisco, where
he will be studying viral genomics
as a member of Joe Derisi’s lab.
Ryan Sim ’97 returned from
Peace Corps (Honduras 2003-
2005). Ryan has been working as a
Community Organizer in churches
and neighborhoods in Costa Mesa
and Garden Grove for OCCCO,
the Orange County Congregation
Community Organization, a faithbased
non-profit organization
Lauren Michelle (Haag) Stine ’97
married Christopher James Stine
on September 15, 2007 in Dana
Point at The St. Regis Resort. Lauren
currently runs a financial services
company in Orange, California. Chris
is a Los Angeles City Fire Firefighter,
along with his entire family. Chris
and Lauren live in Rancho Santa
Margarita, California. They enjoyed
their honeymoon in The Greek Islands,
Italy and Germany. They look forward
to having a family in the future.
