Patrick Randall ’97 is a Surface<br />

Warfare Lieutenant in the US Navy,<br />

stationed in San Diego, California.<br />

He is married to Kellie Young and<br />

they welcomed their first child,<br />

Riley Mackenzie, in August 2008.<br />

focused on developing people who<br />

are dedicated to seeking justice<br />

and actively engaged in the civic<br />

process. Ryan has thoroughly enjoyed<br />

helping people put their faith into<br />

action and will continue to use his<br />

powers for good and not evil.<br />

Katie (Ferguson) Rando ’97 resides<br />

in Brazil. In June, she and her husband,<br />

Adu, celebrated their five year wedding<br />

anniversary. Also in June, her husband<br />

was promoted and transferred<br />

from Ribeirão Preto, Sao Paulo to<br />

Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The<br />

change was very exciting, but also<br />

a little crazy since Katie was eight<br />

months pregnant with their second<br />

daughter, Julia! Their oldest daughter,<br />

Isabella, is now two and she can’t<br />

wait to meet her new baby sister!<br />

Gabriela (Melendez) Roemhildt<br />

’97 has been living in Oahu, Hawaii<br />

for the last two years. She and her<br />

husband have been married for six<br />

years and they are expecting a new<br />

baby in mid-July. The new baby will join<br />

the couple’s three-year-old daughter,<br />

Raina Elisabeth. Gabriela graduated<br />

from California State University,<br />

Dominguez Hills with her Master’s<br />

Degree in Humanities in August.<br />

Graham Ruby ’97 was awarded his<br />

PhD in biology from MIT. For his<br />

thesis, he did research in David Bartel’s<br />

laboratory at MIT’s Whitehead Institute<br />

studying the biology of small RNAs that<br />

he was able to publish in the journals<br />

– Nature, Cell, Molecular Cell, and<br />

Genome Research. He has enjoyed<br />

living in Cambridge, but in July, he<br />

returned to the west coast to start his<br />

postdoc at UC San Francisco, where<br />

he will be studying viral genomics<br />

as a member of Joe Derisi’s lab.<br />

Ryan Sim ’97 returned from<br />

Peace Corps (Honduras 2003-<br />

2005). Ryan has been working as a<br />

Community Organizer in churches<br />

and neighborhoods in Costa Mesa<br />

and Garden Grove for OCCCO,<br />

the Orange County Congregation<br />

Community Organization, a faithbased<br />

non-profit organization<br />

Lauren Michelle (Haag) Stine ’97<br />

married Christopher James Stine<br />

on September 15, 2007 in Dana<br />

Point at The St. Regis Resort. Lauren<br />

currently runs a financial services<br />

company in Orange, California. Chris<br />

is a Los Angeles City Fire Firefighter,<br />

along with his entire family. Chris<br />

and Lauren live in Rancho <strong>Santa</strong><br />

<strong>Margarita</strong>, California. They enjoyed<br />

their honeymoon in The Greek Islands,<br />

Italy and Germany. They look forward<br />

to having a family in the future.<br />
