Chris Eagan ’05 recently traveled to<br />

Cambodia on a service trip through<br />

Loyola Marymount Univeristy’s<br />

Alternative Breaks program. Chris<br />

stayed within the country for two<br />

weeks and worked with the nonprofit<br />

organization, “Journey’s Within Our<br />

Community.” There were a number of<br />

different projects, but he spent his time<br />

working on a micro finance project<br />

for the community. Chris is looking<br />

forward to his senior year at LMU.<br />

Beth Palkovic ’05 studied abroad<br />

in Spain this past summer. After she<br />

completed her studies, Beth and her<br />

friend traveled around Europe for a<br />

couple weeks and visited the United<br />

Nations in Geneva.<br />

Steven Shaffer’s ’05 and Megan<br />

(Bartel) Shaffer ’04 were recently<br />

married on August 9, 2008 at San<br />

Francisco Solano Church. The two<br />

met while attending SMCHS.<br />

Adam Stout ’05 will be a senior at<br />

Marquette this fall with one year left<br />

before he student teaches in the<br />

Milwaukee Public <strong>School</strong> District.<br />

Adam has been busy working in<br />

research with the school of education,<br />

tracking the reading progress of<br />

African-American children who live<br />

in households below the poverty<br />

line, while also giving tours to<br />

prospective Marquette students as a<br />

University tour guide. He travelled<br />

to Tanzania (east Africa) for three<br />

weeks and worked in schools, HIV/<br />

AIDS clinics, and orphanages, and<br />

he will lead the group back to the<br />

village of Morogoro this upcoming<br />

Christmas break. The group’s mission<br />

is to bring knowledge, supplies, and<br />

hope to those who need it most.<br />

Thomas Hull ’06 earned his Harvard<br />

varsity letter last year as a starter on<br />

the football team and received Ivy<br />

League Honors for his performance<br />

against Cornell. Thomas and his<br />

teammates won the Ivy League<br />

Championship last season in the 124th<br />

playing of the historic Harvard-Yale<br />

rivalry, marking only the second time<br />

in Ivy League history that Harvard and<br />

Yale met undefeated in League play.<br />

He is a junior this fall concentrating<br />

in biology/pre-med after spending<br />

the summer in a preceptorship with<br />

an orthopedic surgery group.<br />

James Keefe ’06 is a starting player<br />

on the UCLA’s Men’s Basketball<br />

Team. James had an experience of a<br />

lifetime last March as UCLA played in<br />

the NCAA Final Four Tournament.<br />
