Brigid Duggan Consultancy provides a wide range of general management<br />
and marketing consultancy services to SMEs, and I have specific expertise<br />
in the field of export development and financial management.<br />
I provide a practical “hands on” approach to assist businesses identify, plan<br />
and implement effective and efficient marketing strategies and management<br />
information systems.<br />

Over the last five years I have been involved in mentoring a large number of<br />
SMEs throughout Northern Ireland from within a range of sectors including,<br />
engineering, construction, retail, IT and food.<br />
Being a former Founder and Managing Director of a small business I know<br />
from personal experience what it takes to build first year sales of £65k to<br />
£1m by the end of year 3 prior to selling the business. This growth required<br />
building export markets (70% of the business), shaping company culture,<br />
managing customers and costs through improved business processes.<br />
Key Achievements<br />
• Started Connect Engineering and managed a staff of 17.<br />
• Responsible for turnover increasing from £65k in year 1 to £1 million by<br />
the end of year 3. I sold the business in 2006.<br />
• Established new sales markets in the Republic of Ireland and Europe and<br />
built export sales to 70% of turnover.<br />
• Shaped company culture to one based on strong customer focus.<br />
• Implemented cost reduction through improved business processes<br />
• Awarded The Spirit of Enterprise Award in 2004.<br />
• Company awarded The Ben Wilson Excel Management and Leadership<br />
Award 2005.<br />
• Awarded The Export Sales Award by Magherafelt Area Partnership in<br />
conjunction with DARD in 2006.<br />
• Was responsible for Connect Engineering being selected as one of six<br />
Northern Ireland firms taking part in the BBC television series in 2006<br />
“The Next Level”.
