Frequency Converter for Main Spindle Drive
The main spindle drive consists of the following components:
- spindle motor and
- frequency converter.
The spindle motor is a two-pole asynchronous motor with an output of 500 W (S6-40 %
operation). Controlled by a frequency converter, the motor is designed for a max. speed of
24,000 rpm.
For tool mounting, collet chucks ranging from 3 mm to 6.35 mm (1/4”) are provided (see
“Accessories”).
The motor is controlled by a 1,100 VA frequency converter integrated in the CPV.
To control speed and direction of rotation, the signal inputs of the converter are wired with
the terminal board and the SK module of the machine. This ensures that apart from the
speed setting (by the analog output of the connected multi I/O card), the handling of the
EMERGENCY STOP situation is also provided.
The power supply of the converter (AC 230 V) is provided via the mains input plug of the
CPV.
