WHO SHOULD ATTEND?<br />

The programme is intended for those<br />

already involved in IT who wish to acquire<br />

or improve networking skills and to<br />

obtain certification for such skills. No<br />

formal qualification in computing is<br />

required for entry to the course but<br />

potential participants should have a basic<br />

knowledge <strong>of</strong> computer technology e.g.<br />

familiarity with a PC and the internet.<br />

Class sizes are limited to a maximum <strong>of</strong><br />

16 students per instructor.<br />

HOW IS CERTIFICATION OBTAINED?<br />

Participants will receive a Cisco<br />

certificate <strong>of</strong> completion for each <strong>of</strong> the<br />

modules that they successfully complete.<br />

Those wishing to obtain industrial<br />

certification must sit the 640-802<br />

examination conducted in a test centre<br />

recognised by Cisco. Candidates can do<br />

this in ITB, which has a Pearson VUE test<br />

centre. The cost <strong>of</strong> the exam is built into<br />

the course fee.<br />

PROGRAMME DELIVERY<br />

The CCNA® curriculum provides<br />

foundational networking knowledge,<br />

practical experience, opportunities<br />

for career exploration, and s<strong>of</strong>t-skills<br />

development to help students prepare for<br />

entry-level careers in IT and networking.<br />

The curriculum <strong>of</strong>fers a hands-on<br />

approach to learning, and uses interactive<br />

tools and easy-to-follow labs to help<br />

students learn the general theory needed<br />

to build networks.<br />

CCNA allows for quick application <strong>of</strong><br />

learned concepts to encourage students<br />

to consider additional education in<br />

IT. It uses easy-to-follow, step-bystep<br />

laboratories that provide detailed<br />

instructions and feedback to help<br />

students reach the final solution. It<br />

includes embedded e-doing, highly<br />

interactive activities that stimulate<br />

learning and improve knowledge<br />

retention. E-doing involves rich<br />

multimedia, including Flash-based<br />

activities, videos, and interactive quizzes,
