Minimum entry requirements:<br />
Applicants must have a pass in five<br />
subjects (ordinary level) in the Leaving<br />
Certificate, to include Mathematics<br />
and English or Irish, or an equivalent<br />
qualification. Leaving Certificate<br />
Mathematics at Foundation Level at<br />
grade B2 or higher is acceptable for<br />
this programme.<br />
The minimum entry requirements for<br />
graduates <strong>of</strong> FETAC level 5 or 6 awards<br />
is any full award.<br />
Mature applicants (i.e. those who are<br />
aged 23 years or more on January 1st<br />
in the year <strong>of</strong> entry) applying for the<br />
first level <strong>of</strong> programmes are exempt<br />
from this requirement.<br />
Applicants must have at least 3 years<br />
continuous work experience in the<br />
Horticulture industry and must remain<br />
in employment in the industry for the<br />
duration <strong>of</strong> this 3 year course. Each<br />
applicant must provide a letter <strong>of</strong><br />
recommendation and support from<br />
their employer.<br />
Schedule: Monday 6pm – 10pm,<br />
3 week block release per semester,<br />
on-line via Moodle<br />
Fee: €2,400 per year<br />
Duration: 3 years part-time<br />
WHO SHOULD APPLY?<br />
People working in the industry with at<br />
least 3 years work experience.<br />
ENTRY TO COURSE<br />
Prospective students will be required<br />
to have a letter <strong>of</strong> support from their<br />
employer accompanying their application.<br />
Details <strong>of</strong> content required, listed on<br />
application form. Students must remain<br />
in employment in the industry for the<br />
duration <strong>of</strong> this three year course. Block<br />
release generally occurs in the period<br />
October – March. Interviews may be held<br />
and prospective students will be notified.<br />
PREVIOUS QUALIFICATIONS<br />
Students with relevant previous<br />
qualifications and awards should contact<br />
ITB for advice regarding application<br />
for exemptions. When applying for<br />
exemptions, students will be required to<br />
provide evidence that they have previously<br />
achieved the learning outcomes <strong>of</strong> the<br />
modules from which they are applying for<br />
an exemption.<br />
