Welcome
Welcome again to Rotorua. We know that most of the
registrations have come from people who have attended
the conference in previous years. We obviously welcome
this as evidence that we are providing a conference that
meets your needs and expectations.
The conference this year follows that “tried & true”
format with the relatively recent addition of the workshop
day on Thursday, followed by the conference proper over
Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully you will be able to
decide which of the many concurrent sessions to attend.
All the sessions are on site at the Energy Events Centre
this year, avoiding the shuttles between venues.
We have increasing numbers of both Practice Nurses and
Practice Managers attending and have tailored sessions
to their specific needs. However, with General Practice
being a team process we hope that practice nurses and
managers will mix and mingle with other attendees
during the breaks and social events.
As usual there are plenty of opportunities to socialise and
meet up with your colleagues from around the country.
No GPCME conference would be the same without the
conference dinner. The entertainment this year includes
comedian Mike King so it should be a very enjoyable
evening with plenty of humour.
My Practice has had the usual problem of everyone
wanting to come to the conference – I know this is the
case in many other Practices as well. Perhaps those of
your colleagues not able to come to Rotorua can attend
the sister GPCME South conference in Dunedin. Of
course there is no reason why you couldn’t make the
trip south as well to perhaps revisit some of the haunts
of your youth.
I hope after the conference you return home refreshed,
revitalised, and at least a little more knowledgeable.
