Dr Kevin Morris<br />

Speakers Biographies<br />

Dr Morris has worked as a medical advisor to the Accident Compensation Corporation since 1992. He<br />

has been the Corporate Medical Advisor based in Wellington since 1998 and the Director of Clinical<br />

Services from 2006. He has extensive experience in the area of compensation medicine and has been a<br />

part of the developments related to medical misadventure now called treatment injury. He is recognised<br />

as New Zealand’s foremost authority in the field of impairment evaluation.<br />

Dr Morris has a particular interest in the relationship between health, employment status and compensation<br />

systems. He has a background in general practice medicine and obstetrics, occupational medicine,<br />

computer science and medical administration. Before joining the ACC, Dr Morris was a principal in a<br />

group general practice, the principal doctor of one of New Zealand’s first after-hours medical clinics<br />

and a consultant with a technology company developing software for medical practice management<br />

systems. Most recently he has completed a Masters in Public Policy at the School of Government, Victoria<br />

University Wellington. His research paper looked at the impact of lump sum compensation for noneconomic<br />

loss on rehabilitation outcomes<br />

Dr Kingsley Nirmalaraj<br />

Kingsley has been a Consultant Endocrinologist and Physician at Tauranga Hospital since 2008. He has<br />

been a Visiting Endocrinologist for Whakatane hospital as well. His role also includes as a Community<br />

Diabetes Specialist in the Bay of Plenty.<br />

Having trained in Auckland, Kingsley has settled down in the Bay for obvious reasons. His special interests<br />

include general endocrinology, diabetes, including diabetes in pregnancy and maternal medicine.<br />
