HUA245 Studio Lighting II<br />
3 credits; 4 hours (3 lecture, 1 lab)<br />
This course introduces the students to techniques in portraiture<br />
and fashion photography using electronic flash. Students will continue<br />
“tabletop” photography using the 4x5 view camera. Assignments<br />
will be in black-and-white as well as color; emphasis will<br />
be placed on exposure of color transparency film with tungsten<br />
and flash illumination. A unit in architectural photography is<br />
included. Students must have 35mm equipment and should expect<br />
to pay for additional materials for this course.<br />

HUA275 Commercial Photography Workshop<br />
3 credits; 4 hours (2 lecture, 2 lab)<br />
This is the most advanced course in the Commercial Photography<br />
curriculum. The student will explore and analyze the creative and<br />
logistic problems encountered during all stages of a commercial<br />
photography assignment. Using standard pre- and post-production<br />
procedures, as well as photographic techniques learned in previous<br />
classes, the student will produce three photographic projects<br />
consisting of 5 to 10 images for each. Students should expect to<br />
pay for additional materials for this course.<br />

HUA280 Commercial Photography Seminar<br />
3 credits; 3 hours<br />
This course introduces the students to the day-to-day operations<br />
and business practices of the photographic industry. The professional<br />
responsibilities of photographers and photographers’ assistants<br />
will be explored in detail. Commercial self-promotion,<br />
including the creation of an appropriate portfolio, business card,<br />
and resume will be covered. The business, legal, and ethical dimensions<br />
of everyday activities within the industry will be discussed.<br />

Studio Art<br />
HUA103 Beginning Drawing<br />
3 credits; 3 hours<br />
This course is an introduction to drawing through basic examination<br />
of the visual fundamentals of line, texture, value, space, and<br />
form. Problems in descriptive drawing will be explored. There will<br />
be individual and group criticism. Sketchbooks are required.<br />

HUA104 Introduction to Design<br />
3 credits; 3 hours<br />
This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of design<br />
through an investigation of visual elements such as line, shape, and<br />
composition. Students will develop designs in two-dimensional<br />
form. The design principles will be discussed and illustrated as<br />
they relate to a number of visual arts forms.<br />

HUA106 Three-Dimensional Design<br />
3 credits; 3 hours<br />
This course examines the principles of three-dimensional design.<br />
Students will develop individual designs based on formal elements<br />
such as line, shape, mass and volume. Techniques in construction<br />
and carving will be demonstrated and developed in plaster, wood,<br />
cardboard and metal.<br />

HUA110 Beginning Painting<br />
3 credits; 3 hours<br />
This course is an introduction to painting techniques related to<br />
landscape, still life, and abstract composition. Emphasis will be on<br />
color expression and color mixing. There will be individual and<br />
group critiques.<br />

HUA115 Color Theory<br />
3 credits; 3 hours<br />
This course is an introduction to the theory and application of<br />
color in two-dimensional design. The basic principles of design<br />
will be demonstrated in relation to the interaction of colors. Students<br />
will develop two-dimensional designs through techniques in<br />
color mixing and collage.<br />

HUA120 Beginning Sculpture<br />
3 credits; 3 hours<br />
Problems in three-dimensional form will be examined through<br />
projects in clay and plaster. There will be group and individual<br />
