Request traffic modelling data and assumptions be subject to a peer review process.
Suggest traffic studies compare the number of vehicles using the tunnel to the number of vehicles
continuing to use aboveground routes.
Request for traffic studies to be carried out along residential streets to determine potential traffic impacts.
Suggest traffic studies include projected data for additional vehicles resulting from urban revitalisation
and the construction of new residential apartments
along Parramatta Road.
Concern about the reliability of traffic data and
projections because of recent overestimates of
traffic projections for the Sydney Cross City
Tunnel and Brisbane’s Clem 7 motorway.
Clarify any proposed changes to existing traffic
flows, in particular those changes which prioritise
traffic using the tunnel.
Concern that encouraging more cars onto toll
roads does not address traffic congestion, instead
it just moves the problem to another part of the

Suggest the concept design avoid traffic light pinch points.
Comment that removing the traffic lights and right turn on Homebush Bay Drive as a result of the new
access ramp to the M4 westbound will help ease traffic congestion.
Concern increased westbound traffic during events at Olympic Park may cause congestion in the tunnel
from traffic trying to access Homebush Bay Drive.
Concern between the completion of M4 Widening and M4 East there will be increased traffic volumes on
the M4 but no additional road infrastructure east of Concord Road to cater for this additional traffic.
Concern Concord Road will be transformed into a collector point for the tunnel, increasing traffic and
congestion.
Concern about increased traffic along Great North Road and Lyons Road from vehicles trying to avoid
congestion on the City West Link and Parramatta Road.
Comment that traffic exiting from the tunnel at Wattle Street, travelling along the City West Link, will need
to pass through eight sets of traffic lights to reach Anzac Bridge.
Suggest extending the tunnel to the disused rail yards at Catherine Street, Lilyfield to bypass four sets of
traffic lights along the City West Link and avoid considerable traffic congestion.
Concern about traffic congestion in the tunnel and along Wattle Street and Parramatta Road from traffic
exiting the tunnel trying to join already congested roads.
Question how traffic congestion will be managed between Stage 1 opening and Stage 3 completion
along Parramatta Road near the tunnel exit heading east.
