John H. Hulsapple, son of William <strong>and</strong> Annie (Snook) Hulsapple, was born <strong>in</strong> the town of East Greenbush, NY, 5 Oct 1839. He is of<br />
German descent, his gr<strong>and</strong>father, Cornelius Hulsapple, hav<strong>in</strong>g come to America early <strong>in</strong> the 19th century. He was educated chiefly<br />
at Professor Smith's private sem<strong>in</strong>ary <strong>in</strong> Troy, <strong>and</strong> after leav<strong>in</strong>g it was for eight years a clerk <strong>in</strong> the office of Robert Rob<strong>in</strong>son, coal<br />
dealer, <strong>in</strong> West Troy. He then went to <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> city <strong>and</strong> was employed by George H. Stone, lumber dealer, for three years. He<br />
returned to West Troy <strong>in</strong> 1863 <strong>and</strong> was connected with Betts & Rob<strong>in</strong>son, lumber forwarders, until he became a member of the firm<br />
of I). Scrafford & Co., lumber dealers, of West Troy. When that firm discont<strong>in</strong>ued bus<strong>in</strong>ess he formed a partnership with Benjam<strong>in</strong><br />
Shaffer, under the firm name of Shaffer & Hulsapple, which lasted about two years, when Mr. Hulsapple succeeded to the sole<br />
control of the bus<strong>in</strong>ess, which he conducted for about three years. He now has a fire <strong>in</strong>surance agency <strong>in</strong> West Troy <strong>and</strong> is also a<br />
bookkeeper for C. H. Green, lumber dealer of Troy. Mr. Hulsapple is a member of the Even<strong>in</strong>g Star Lodge No. 75, F&AM, of West<br />
Troy, <strong>and</strong> a warden of Tr<strong>in</strong>ity Episcopal church. He was president of the village of West Troy for one year, trustee for six years <strong>and</strong> a<br />
school trustee for several years. 18 Apr 1864, he married Lydia, daughter of Jesse Montgomery of <strong>Albany</strong> <strong>and</strong> they have six sons<br />
<strong>and</strong> one daughter, Harry M., Herbert S , William H., John T., Clarence, Eustis <strong>and</strong> Florence.<br />

John D. Jaqu<strong>in</strong>s, son of Joel <strong>and</strong> EHzabeth (Parke) Jaqu<strong>in</strong>s, was born <strong>in</strong> Troy, NY, 22 Apr 1864, He was educated <strong>in</strong> the public<br />
schools <strong>and</strong> took a special course under Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal Veeder. For six years he was a clerk <strong>in</strong> Pierson Lobdell's hat <strong>and</strong> furnish<strong>in</strong>g<br />
goods store <strong>in</strong> West Troy, which he bought <strong>in</strong> 1884, <strong>and</strong> later moved to his present location on the corner of Broadway <strong>and</strong><br />
Sixteenth street. Mr. Jaqu<strong>in</strong>s is a member of the board of directors of the Y. M. C. A., a member of Even<strong>in</strong>g Star Lodge No. 75,<br />
F&AM, <strong>and</strong> a member <strong>and</strong> f<strong>in</strong>ancial secretary of the Watervliet Club. November 4, 1889, he married Jessie F., d/o Charles H.<br />
Mors of West Troy, <strong>and</strong> they have one daughter, Eleanor M.<br />
