Frederick Harman Eggers. lawyer <strong>and</strong> city judge of Cohoes, NY, is a native of that city, born 19 Mar 1880, son of Harman Eggers<br />

<strong>and</strong> Cather<strong>in</strong>e Scherer, his wife. His paternal gr<strong>and</strong>father, Luhr Eggers, came from Germany <strong>and</strong> settled <strong>in</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> city, where he<br />

did bus<strong>in</strong>ess as a wholesale grocer. On the maternal side he also is of German descent, his ancestor hav<strong>in</strong>g come from near<br />

Heidelberg, where members of the family still reside. His mother's uncle, Augustus Hauk, is at present a professor <strong>in</strong> the University<br />

of Heidelberg.<br />

Judge Eggers was educated <strong>in</strong> the public schools of his native city <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> Egberts' High School, Cohoes, from which lie graduated <strong>in</strong><br />

1898. He began the study of law the same year <strong>in</strong> the office of Frank H. Deal, of Troy, NY, cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g it at <strong>Albany</strong> Law School,<br />

where he studied two years, <strong>and</strong> from which he graduated <strong>in</strong> 1 901 with the degree of LL.B. He began practice <strong>in</strong> Cohoes<br />

immediately after graduation <strong>and</strong> has s<strong>in</strong>ce cont<strong>in</strong>ued there. In 1902 Mr. Eggers was appo<strong>in</strong>ted city judge of Cohoes, <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> the fall<br />

of that year was elected for a term of four years, to serve until 31 Dec 1906, <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> accordance with special statutes will be the last<br />

justice of the peace of that city.<br />

Judge Eggers is a member of Cohoes Lodge, No. 116, F&AM, <strong>and</strong> of Cohoes Chapter, No. 168, RAM. In politics he is a Republican,<br />

<strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong> 1903 he served as president of the Fourth Ward Republican Club.<br />

Isaiah Fellow - Lawyer, former Judge of the Recorder's Court of the City of Cohoes, was born at<br />

Wednesbury, Staffordshire. Engl<strong>and</strong>, 20 Aug 1860, a son of Isaiah <strong>and</strong> Charlotte (Brownsword)<br />

Fellows. With his parents he came to this country <strong>in</strong> 1870 <strong>and</strong> located at Cohoes, NY, where he was<br />

educated <strong>in</strong> the public schools. In 1882 he commenced the study of law, was admitted to the bar <strong>and</strong><br />

was associated with the late Hon. James F. Crawford until 1804, when the present firm of Fellows &<br />

McElwa<strong>in</strong> was formed. He was elected a School Commissioner of the Fourth Ward <strong>in</strong> 1891 <strong>and</strong> was<br />

largely <strong>in</strong>strumental <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>troduc<strong>in</strong>g the k<strong>in</strong>dergarten system <strong>in</strong>to the public schools of Cohoes. In 1891<br />

he was appo<strong>in</strong>ted a member of the orig<strong>in</strong>al Cohoes City Hospital Commission <strong>and</strong> acted as its<br />

secretary. On 20 Aug 1896, he was appo<strong>in</strong>ted Recorder of the City of Cohoes by Mayor Mitchell for a<br />

term of four years. He was reappo<strong>in</strong>ted by Mayor Mitchell 16 Jul 1900, <strong>and</strong> was aga<strong>in</strong> reappo<strong>in</strong>ted by<br />

Mayor Wilson <strong>in</strong> July, 1904. Judge Fellows is a member <strong>and</strong> trustee of the First M. E. Church, <strong>and</strong> is<br />

a member of Cohoes Lodge No. 116, F&AM; Cohoes Chapter No. 168. RAM; Bloss Council,<br />

Oriental Temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shr<strong>in</strong>e; the Mystic Club, the Cohoes Hospital Association.<br />
