Schedule: Second quarter, 2001<br />

Progress: The <strong>Weeks</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> NERR built in 2000 and is operating a<br />

pump-out station at the Marina on <strong>Weeks</strong> <strong>Bay</strong>. In the summer of<br />

2001, <strong>Weeks</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> NERR partnered with Faulkner State Community<br />

College to produce a locator map of pump-out stations in Coastal<br />

Alabama. Educational information on the value of pump-out<br />

stations and their use is included on the map. Successful river<br />

cleanups have been held each spring since 1997.<br />

b. Host coastal boat and marina owners workshop.<br />

Discussion: Host workshop for boat and marina owners in coastal<br />

Alabama on pollution prevention strategies.<br />

Schedule: Third quarter, 2001<br />

Progress: In partnership with Auburn University Marine Extension<br />

and Research Center, two workshops on BMPs for marina owners<br />

and operators will be held by Fall, 2001.<br />

6. Continue <strong>Weeks</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Water Watch monitoring and<br />

formally analyze data to identify trends and design<br />

recovery plans if necessary.<br />

Strategy:<br />

a. Formal analysis of <strong>Weeks</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Water Watch monitoring data should<br />

be done to evaluate trends over at least five years of data collection. These data<br />

could be used to establish Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) and design a<br />

plan of recovery.<br />

Discussion: Analyze water quality data to identify stream reaches that<br />

do not meet water quality standards in the <strong>Watershed</strong>. Use the<br />

analysis to show trends over time and potential use for TMDL<br />

implementation on streams on the 303(d) list.<br />

Section, and the <strong>Watershed</strong> <strong>Project</strong> Coordinator<br />

the “Coastal Series” of AWW Booklets was published in April, 2001.<br />
