Injury in Alberta XIII
Background Injury in Alberta XIII will be hosted in Edmonton from November 18 to 20,
2008 through a partnership between ACICR, Alberta Transportation, and
Work Safe Alberta. “Driving Home Safety: Communities and Industry
Working Together” will focus on the implementation of the provincial traffic
safety plan at the community and industry levels. The major areas of focus
will be occupant restraints, speed and intersections and impaired driving. The
conference will also provide skill building sessions and regional planning
opportunities.

Increase capacity of injury prevention practitioners and industry to address
traffic injuries.
1. Increase understanding of Alberta’s traffic safety issues.
2. Increase understanding of best prevention strategies.
3. Build linkages across the province and within regions.
The conference is in its planning stages with a current focus on inviting
speakers for the sessions, promoting the conference to communities and
industry and arranging logistics. A steering committee is guiding the
organization of the conference.
