A Blueprint for Community - Based Personal Drinking and Driving
Interventions: A Participatory Research Study
Background
Armed with findings from a recent drinking and driving study that included focus
groups and a provincial survey on social factors that influence drinking and
driving and having gained the support for future research from members of the
Alberta Impaired Driving Committee, chaired by Alberta Transportation, the
ACICR is engaging in a follow-up participatory community research study on
drinking and driving.
Goals 1. Establish why and how select sectors of the community in different parts of
the province can contribute to community based drinking and driving
intervention programs.
2. Develop a community-based intervention blueprint that can be implemented
in communities in which the research is taking place.
3. Develop a network of key industry/community-based persons who will support
(morally, financially and professionally) the development, implementation and
sustainability of community-based drinking and driving intervention
blueprints in their communities.
Status
Data collection/transcription complete. Report in progress.
