By analysing the success rate in the different<br />

barriers we can verify that the boxes were used<br />

mainly in the barriers that had no footholds (e.g.,<br />

I-3, M-3, N-3) when children perceived that by<br />

using the boxes they would have an advantage.<br />

In barrier J-3 (1,50 m panel) the boxes didn’t<br />

seem to bring any advantages since, even with<br />

boxes, most children wouldn’t be able to reach<br />

the top <strong>of</strong> the barrier. This is probably why most<br />

children didn’t use the boxes in that situation.<br />

When the barriers are easy to climb (e.g., G-3,<br />

K-3, L-3) the children don’t need to get the boxes<br />

to help the action <strong>of</strong> crossing. In terms <strong>of</strong><br />

child safety, we can conclude that parents <strong>and</strong><br />
