By analysing the success rate in the different
barriers we can verify that the boxes were used
mainly in the barriers that had no footholds (e.g.,
I-3, M-3, N-3) when children perceived that by
using the boxes they would have an advantage.
In barrier J-3 (1,50 m panel) the boxes didn’t
seem to bring any advantages since, even with
boxes, most children wouldn’t be able to reach
the top of the barrier. This is probably why most
children didn’t use the boxes in that situation.
When the barriers are easy to climb (e.g., G-3,
K-3, L-3) the children don’t need to get the boxes
to help the action of crossing. In terms of
child safety, we can conclude that parents and
