District 6440 Histories 2005<br />
Corvette was raffled off raising $5,000 for the Valley Sheltered Workshop and $7,000 for various local<br />
charities. Art auction to raise money for Fox Hill Community Services, and sold brats to raise money<br />
for the Batavia fireworks fund.<br />
1990-1991 – Started two $1,000 annual scholarships for graduating Batavia High School seniors, one for<br />
general Academic excellence and the other Vocational Studies. Sponsored drive to clean up shoreline of<br />
the Fox River with help of the Boy Scouts and the Batavia Park District. Donated monies to purchase<br />
100 smoke detectors for Batavia senior citizens, and received help from the Batavia Fire Department to<br />
install the detectors. Funded the Batavia High School’s Star Raiders Drug Prevention Program.<br />
Continued supporting Easter Seals Telethon, Batavia Fireworks Fund, A.K.A. Ministries, Sports<br />
Boosters, and Rotary Foundation.<br />
1991-92 – Donations to Batavia Riverwalk $50,000 over five years; Batavia Foundation for Educational<br />
Excellence $1,000/year for three years; Batavia Fireworks Fund $2,000; Easter Seals $1,000;<br />
Crimestoppers $1,000; Rotary Foundation $1,000; Batavia Rotary Scholarships $2,000; RSVP-Smoke<br />
Detector Program $500; Bulldog Booster Program $300; Valley Sheltered Workshop $500; Children of<br />
Chernobyl; and $2,500 including but not limited to Brownie Troop, Say No to Drugs, Mutual Ground,<br />
Boy Scouts, and Speakers Causes.<br />
1993-94 – Donations from fund raising activities: Batavia Riverwalk $17,000 as part of five- year<br />
commitment; Batavia Fireworks Fund $2,000; Easter Seals Telethon $750; Rotary Foundation $1,750;<br />
and Batavia Rotary Academic Scholarships $2,000. New Commitment to support Batavia Interfaith<br />
Food Pantry $1,000; Valley Sheltered Workshop $300; Batavia Bulldog Sports Boosters program $300;<br />
plus contributions totaling $2,000 to social organizations and civic group functions; such as, Say No To<br />
Drugs, Boy Scouts, and Families in Need. New fundraiser was a Golf Raffle with money going to<br />
Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and Batavia Fireworks Fund.<br />
1994-95 – Donations to Riverwalk project, Easter Seals, Batavia Fireworks Fund, Literacy Volunteers,<br />
and two scholarships to Batavia High School Students. Supported the BHS Allnighter, and rang bells<br />
for the Salvation Army.<br />
1995-96 – Donated $1,000 to American Cancer Society for Middle School Cancer Awareness Kits.<br />
Also donated to Literacy Volunteers, Riverwalk project, Batavia Fireworks Fund, Easter Seals, two<br />
scholarships to Batavia High School students, and rang bells for the Salvation Army. Supported the<br />
BHS Allnighter.<br />
1996-97 - Stared the Tri-City Organ Donor Program. Continued donations to Easter Seals, Batavia<br />
Fireworks Fund, Riverwalk Project, Literacy Volunteers, two scholarships to Batavia High School<br />
Students, and BHS Allnighter. Supported Rotary International-Paul Harris Foundation. Donated 50/50<br />
Raffle monies to the Food Pantry and $450 for Batavia High School band uniforms. Also rang bells for<br />
Salvation Army.<br />
1997-98 – During the past year the Batavia Rotary Club recently completed its commitment to the<br />
Batavia Riverwalk for the Peg Bond Center and other aspects of the project. The Batavia Rotary<br />
sponsored two scholarships for graduating Batavia High School seniors. In addition, Batavia Rotary<br />
supports Crimestoppers, Easter Seals, DARE, the Batavia Food Pantry, the BHS Allnighter, Operation<br />
