On June 28 a group of Year 10s and IB1s went on a trip to Koh Samet. The IBs went there
to conduct some experiments for their IB studies and the Year 10s went as part of their
coursework, and took upon themselves the task of finding out whether the island of Samet
has yet recovered from the aftermath of the 2013 oil spill.
In order to do this the Year 10s surveyed multiple businesses, fishermen and ferry people.
They also took a few sand and water samples from Ao Phrao beach, which was badly
affected by the oil spill, and from Sai Keaw beach on the other side of the island.
The Year 10s’ day started with a delicious breakfast followed by surveys until 1pm, when
they had lunch in the hotel, and then there was more research until 4pm. After this the
students had some free time, and came together for dinner.
Friends Help with Maintenance Dinner
The Friends of Garden PTA recently made a
generous 2,000 baht donation for the end-of-year
dinner for the maintenance staff and maids.
Picnic and Sport
A Friends of Garden picnic and sports afternoon was held
on June 14. Creative Prefect Sarah worked marvels with
the student entertainment while IB students helped out with
volleyball, popcorn and ice cream.
The cricket was fun, with Vamsi's New Zealand-Indian
team beating the Australian-Indian team! Thank you to
everyone who pulled together with FoG PTA to help make
the event happen.
