J. Pumps shall be controlled by floats.<br />

K. Pumps shall include hydraulic mixed flush valves.<br />

L. For triplex pump stations, all three pumps are required to have swinging check valves, breakers,<br />

starters and floats for emergency situations.<br />

M. All lift stations shall include a landscaping and irrigation plan that shall be approved by the <strong>City</strong>’s<br />

landscape architect.<br />

N. All lift stations shall include an 8’ tall tubular steel fence with 16’ slide gate.<br />

O. A 2” blow <strong>of</strong>f with an isolation valve and RPZ shall be installed next to the vault opposite the<br />

control panel.<br />

5.2.11 Force Mains<br />

A. Use white-colored pipe material whenever available.<br />

B. 12” and smaller pipe shall be PVC ASTM D2241 SDR 26, or as determined by the Engineer.<br />

C. Pipes larger than 12” shall be PVC AWWA C905 DR 18 or as determined by the Engineer and<br />

approved by the Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> Services.<br />

D. Minimum size for force mains is 6”.<br />

E. Plug valves shall be installed every 1,000’ <strong>of</strong> force main<br />

5.2.12 Dumpster Enclosure Drains<br />

A. Dumpster enclosures serving commercial sites that will need to have the enclosure washed out<br />

shall provide a connection to the sanitary sewer system.<br />

B. Connection shall provide a water-tight sealed cover that can be removed to drain enclosure during<br />

periodic cleaning.<br />

C. Dumpster enclosure shall be constructed to prevent parking lot stormwater run<strong>of</strong>f from entering<br />

enclosure area.<br />
