SECTION 071300<br />

MOISTURE BARRIER<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 DESCRIPTION<br />

A. All material, labor, equipment, tools and superintendence necessary to furnish and install<br />

Moisture Barrier.<br />

A. Project’s Subgrade Investigation and Pavement Design Report (if available).<br />

PART 2 - PRODUCTS<br />

2.01 MATERIALS<br />

A. The moisture barrier shall consist <strong>of</strong> a minimum 10 mil polyethylene sheeting. Covered with<br />

at minimum 8 inches <strong>of</strong> lightly compacted soil.<br />

PART 3 - EXECUTION<br />

3.01 INSTALLATION<br />

A. The moisture barrier shall be placed horizontally on the treated subgrade from the edge <strong>of</strong><br />

pavement extending a minimum 6 feet on either side <strong>of</strong> the pavement in a neat line after final<br />

compaction unless indicated otherwise on the plans.<br />

B. The barrier shall be covered with at least 8 inches <strong>of</strong> lightly compacted soil. Care should be<br />

taken not to rip or tear the poly sheeting during placement <strong>of</strong> the cover fill.<br />

PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT<br />

4.01 MEASUREMENT<br />

A. This Item shall be measured on a Square Yard (SY) basis.<br />

4.02 PAYMENT<br />

A. All work performed and materials furnished in accordance with this Item will be paid for at<br />

the unit bid price for “Moisture Barrier.” This price is full compensation for all material,<br />

labor, equipment, tools and superintendence necessary to complete the work.<br />

B. Payment for the 8 inches <strong>of</strong> lightly compacted soil shall be considered subsidiary to the<br />

“Moisture Barrier” Item.<br />
