E. Gravity Retaining Walls plans shall also include the following:<br />

1. Wall height, including batter requirements;<br />

2. Wall material specification;<br />

3. Base embedment depth and width requirements, including key depth if applicable;<br />

4. Wall thickness at bottom and top <strong>of</strong> wall;<br />

5. Mortared zone requirements (if applicable), including zone thickness and the specification to<br />

mortar on all sides and no voids;<br />

6. Non-mortared zone requirements (if applicable), including zone thickness and the<br />

specification that stones must fit tightly; and<br />

7. Clay cap, including material specification and dimension requirements.<br />

F. Calculations pertinent to the design <strong>of</strong> any and all walls shall be submitted with the construction<br />

drawings when required by the <strong>City</strong>.<br />

G. All wall construction plans and specifications submitted to the <strong>City</strong> for review must include a<br />

permit application submittal.<br />

9.10 Construction Inspection and Certification<br />

A. A permit is required for the construction <strong>of</strong> any wall as defined in these <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>Standards</strong>.<br />

B. Third-party inspections shall be performed during construction, and reports provided to the <strong>City</strong>.<br />

The inspections and reports shall be performed at the following stages <strong>of</strong> construction (at a<br />

minimum):<br />

a. Sub-base preparation geotechnical testing<br />

b. Pre-pour / sub-base / footing:<br />

i. Drilled shaft drilling and concrete placement (if applicable); and<br />

ii. Forming <strong>of</strong> footing, beam, placement <strong>of</strong> reinforcement (if applicable)<br />

c. Wall construction;<br />

d. Backfill placement - geotechnical testing<br />

e. Drainage system construction (if applicable); and<br />

f. Final completion<br />

C. A third-party shall certify wall construction inspections were performed at the prescribed stages<br />

<strong>of</strong> construction in accordance with Section 9.10.B. The inspection reports and final certificate <strong>of</strong><br />

compliance shall be submitted to the <strong>City</strong> and include the following:<br />
