SECTION 312413<br />

EMBANKMENT<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 DESCRIPTION<br />

A. All material, labor, equipment, tools and superintendence necessary to furnish and install<br />

Embankment in accordance with Texas Department <strong>of</strong> Transportation Standard<br />

Specifications for Construction and Maintenance <strong>of</strong> Highways, Streets, and Bridges Item<br />

132.<br />

A. TxDOT Item 132.<br />

PART 2 – PRODUCTS<br />

2.01 MATERIALS<br />

A. Refer to TxDOT Item 132.2 and as specified in the Contract Documents.<br />

B. Eagle Ford may not be imported to other areas.<br />

PART 3 - EXECUTION<br />

3.01 PREPARATION<br />

A. Refer to TxDOT Item 132.3.<br />

B. Frequency <strong>of</strong> compaction testing shall not exceed one test for every three hundred linear feet<br />

300’ spacing or less ,alternating from left quarter point to center line to right quarter point for<br />

every layer <strong>of</strong> embankment.<br />

C. For density and moisture requirements <strong>of</strong> moisture treated embankments see Section 32112<br />

Moisture Treated Subgrade.<br />

PART 4 - MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT<br />

4.01 MEASUREMENT<br />

A. Embankment will be measured by the cubic yard. The cubic yard will be measured in its final<br />

position using the average end area methos. The volume is computed between the original<br />

ground surface or the surface upon which the embankment is to be constructed and the lines,<br />

grades, and slopes <strong>of</strong> the embankment. Shrinkage or swell factors will not be considered in<br />

determining the calculated quanitities.<br />

B. The plan quantity will be determined through calculations and will be used for determining<br />

final quantity amounts for payment purposes. Contract adjustments may be made if the actual<br />

measured quantity varies by more or less than 5% <strong>of</strong> the total estimated plan quantity amount.<br />

Either the <strong>City</strong> or the Contractor may initiate this adjustment. If the adjustment is requested<br />
