SECTION 329300<br />

TREE, SHRUB, AND GROUNDCOVER PLANTING<br />

PART 1 - GENERAL<br />

1.01 DESCRIPTION<br />

A. This work includes all final fine grading and minor leveling <strong>of</strong> planting areas, soil<br />

preparation, and planting. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and services required as<br />

herein specified and indicated on the drawings. Refer to planting details on plans. NOTE:<br />

Plant beds to be left 1” below adjacent paving and slabs after settling.<br />

PART 2 – PRODUCTS<br />

2.01 TOPSOIL<br />

A. All planting bed topsoil shall be soil/compost mix as produced by Living Earth Technology<br />

Co. , Dallas, Texas, or approved equal.<br />

B. Submittal: Submit 1 gallon samples to Owner for Approval.<br />

C. Existing topsoil may be used or amended if it meets the requirements for imported soil and is<br />

approved by the landscape architect. Provide a minimum <strong>of</strong> one soil sample with<br />

accompanying soil test report for each topsoil type found on the site.<br />

2.02 COMMERCIAL FERTILIZER<br />

A. Shall be organic base fertilizer containing the following minimum percentages <strong>of</strong> available<br />

plant nourishment, by weight 5-10-5 (N-P-K), mixed nitrogen, not less than fifty (50%)<br />

percent from an organic source and trace elements, Wacco brand or approved equal. Any<br />

fertilizer which becomes caked or otherwise damaged, making it unsuitable for use, will not<br />

be accepted.<br />

B. Commercial fertilizer shall be a complete organic fertilizer, part <strong>of</strong> the element <strong>of</strong> which is<br />

derived from organic sources. It shall be the type percentages and applied at the rate specified<br />

in the soil analysis. Fertilizer shall be delivered mixed as specified in standard size bags,<br />

showing weight, analysis, and name <strong>of</strong> manufacturer, and shall be stored in a weatherpro<strong>of</strong><br />

storage place, and in such a manner that it will be kept dry and its effectiveness will not be<br />

impaired.<br />

C. Submittal: Submit labels to Owner for Approval.<br />
