IEEE ComSoc/KICS Exemplary Global Service Award<br />

Prize – Plaque, certificate, and honorarium of $2,000 and up to $1,500 for travel to<br />

receive award.<br />

Description and Eligibility: Recipient must be a member of ComSoc or KICS at the<br />

time of nomination and have demonstrated exemplary and distinguished service in<br />

globalization.<br />

Selection Criteria - Recipient must be a member of ComSoc or KICS at the time of<br />

nomination and have demonstrated exemplary and distinguished service in<br />

globalization.<br />

Nomination/Selection Process – ComSoc <strong>Awards</strong> Committee will handle the<br />

evaluation and selection process.<br />

Presentation - The award will be presented annually by presidents of both societies<br />

during IEEE GLOBECOM. Annually (as appropriate); award will not be conferred in any<br />

given year if a suitable candidate is not identified.<br />

Administration and Funding - KICS will provide the honorarium and partial travel<br />

support; ComSoc will provide the plaque and certificate.<br />

PAPER AWARDS<br />

The Communications Society Best Tutorial Paper Award<br />

Prize – Plaque and honorarium up to $500 for each author; total not to exceed $1,000.<br />

Eligibility – Given to an outstanding tutorial paper published in any Communications<br />

Society magazine or journal in the previous calendar year; author need not be an<br />

IEEE member.<br />

Basis for Judging –Clarity and quality of presentation, timeliness and relevance of<br />

topic.<br />

Nominee Solicitation – Nominations solicited by Chair of Magazines/Journals Paper<br />

<strong>Awards</strong> Selection Committees in consultation with Magazines/Journals Editors-in-Chief.<br />

Selection Process – Nominations screened and short list prepared by the Magazines<br />

and Journals Paper <strong>Awards</strong> Selection committees with the approval of the Magazines/<br />

Journals Editors-in-Chief, Director of Magazines, and Director of Journals. The short<br />

list submitted to the Communications Society <strong>Awards</strong> Committee for final selection.<br />

Presentation – Annually (as soon as possible after recommendation). Award will not<br />

be given if a paper of high quality is not uncovered.<br />
