2. The Communications Society Leonard G. Abraham Prize in the Field of<br />

Communications Systems<br />

Restricted to a paper published in the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in<br />

Communications (JSAC).<br />

3. The Communications Society Stephen O. Rice Prize in the Field of<br />

Communications Theory<br />

Restricted to a paper published in the IEEE Transactions on Communications.<br />

4. The Communications Society William R. Bennett Prize in the Field of<br />

Communications Networking (Award recently redefined for networking)<br />

Restricted to a paper from the IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking.<br />

5. The Fred W. Ellersick Prize<br />

For a paper in any Communications Society magazine.<br />

6. The ComSoc & Information Theory Joint Paper Award<br />

For a paper, relevant to both Societies, that appeared in any publication of the<br />

Communications Society or the Information Theory Society.<br />

7. The IEEE Marconi Prize Paper Award in Wireless Communications<br />

(ComSoc and Signal Processing Society)<br />

Restricted to a paper from IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications<br />

8. The Communications Society Award for Outstanding Paper on New<br />

Communication Topics (New Award)<br />

For a paper in any Communications Society journal or magazine.<br />

The short nomination lists for all prize papers are submitted to the Communications<br />

Society <strong>Awards</strong> Committee no later than February 15th of the year following the year<br />

in which papers were published. Award presentations are traditionally made at ICC<br />

each year.<br />

IEEE <strong>Awards</strong><br />

Recognition for an outstanding paper can be given at both Society and Institute levels.<br />

Editors-in-Chief may wish to nominate automatically the winning Communications<br />

Society papers for appropriate IEEE awards. (See the IEEE web site for awards information:<br />

W. R. G. Baker Award recognizes an outstanding original paper published in any IEEE<br />

journal, transactions, proceedings, or magazine in the past year.<br />

Donald G. Fink Award recognizes an outstanding survey or tutorial paper published in<br />

any IEEE journal, transactions, proceedings, or magazine in the past year.<br />
