with a black arrow on the impedance spectrum). For the note D7, the acoustic waves have significant<br />

energy content over the entire length <strong>of</strong> the flute, despite several open holes. In this<br />

range <strong>of</strong> the instrument most fingerings are cross-fingerings, since no one hole controls the<br />

frequency <strong>of</strong> the played note. The calculated pressure <strong>and</strong> flow pr<strong>of</strong>iles are very useful for flute<br />

makers in tuning cross-fingered notes.
