The project area is located near Kingston Road and Sheppard Avenue East in the City of Toronto and is subject to the Class Environmental Assessment for Remedial Flood and Erosion Control Projects (2002), or Class EA. To assist with your evaluation of interest in this project a brief summary of known archaeological sites in the area is provided. While there are no known archaeological points of interest within the project limits, there are five sites within a few kilometres of the project. Of these five, four are Aboriginal in origin. The list of sites is included below. 1) AkGs-005 - Rouge Hill Stables Site Burial 2) AkGs-008 - Graham Site Seneca Village, Poulton 1991 3) AkGs-011 - William Brown Site EuroCanadian Mill Complex, Mayer 1987 4) AkGs-012 - Rouge Trail Site Woodland Findspot - 2 Sherds, Mayer 1988 5) AkGs-017 - Stonechurch Site Lithic Scatter, Warrick 1994 A public meeting has been scheduled with staff from the TRCA and Terraprobe Limited, the consulting engineers, to discuss the Class EA process and options for the design of remedial slope stability works.
