the options presented, to select the preferred design concept, and to assess the importance
of the evaluation criteria for each of the concepts presented.
A draft version of the Environmental Study Report was also provided to the CLC Committee
for preliminary review at the meeting.
6.2.5 Meeting with Affected Landowners
On June 22, 2010 a meeting with the affected landowners was held at the West Rouge
Community Centre to discuss the preliminary findings of the Stage 1 & 2 Archaeological
Assessment that was completed in the Spring of 2010.
At the meeting, staff from TRCA Archaeology Resources Department discussed the initial
findings of the Stage 1 and 2 archaeological assessment of the site, and outlined the
importance of completing Stage 3 and 4 assessments on several of the properties in the
study area.
6.2.6 Community Liaison Committee Meeting #3
A CLC Meeting was held on Wednesday August 17, 2011 at the Tall Pines Community Centre
to present the refined, final designs to the CLC, and to discuss the next steps for the project.
6.2.7 Notice of Filing
The second public notification will occur when the Project Plan is filed on August 26 th , 2011.
As per the requirements of Section 4.2 of the Class EA document, a Notice of Filing will be
distributed to all of the parties contacted in the Notice of Intent that expressed interest in the
project and to the Conservation Ontario and the Ministry of the Environment. Copies of this
report will be provided at the local Councillor’s office, the Port Union Public Library, on the
TRCA website http://www.trca.on.ca/protect/environmental-assessment-projects/royalrouge-trail-erosion-control-project.dot,
and at the TRCA Eastville office for public review
during the 30 day review period.
6.2.8 Notice of Project Approval
In the interest of good project management, a Notice of Project Approval and a Notice of
Project Completion shall be sent to all parties who expressed an interest in the project and to
Conservation Ontario.
6.3 First Nation and Aboriginal Group Consultation
As discussed in Section 3.1.3 TRCA contacted the Ontario Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs to
inquire about the status of any land claims within the study area. As confirmed by the
Ministry, there are no active claims in the study area
Further, the following Aboriginal Groups, as provided by TRCA Archaeological Resources
Staff, were contacted regarding the proposed project, and provided with the opportunity to
provide feedback on any concerns regarding the study area, and to participate in public
consultation for this project.
