48 | IDENTITY DEVELOPING REFERRER STRUCTURES IS THE STUDY GROUP USEFUL FOR YOUR OWN PRACTICE? DR. GAISER Of course. In recent years we have been able to expand our referrer network greatly. We have close contacts with enthusiastic colleagues in the region. The study group has contributed to this. But the initiative is not just for our purposes. I invest innumerable voluntary hours every year with colleagues and employees to maintain the quality and quantity of continuing education. The Euregio Bodensee program is not restricted to implantology but also includes related disciplines such as periodontics, endodontics, dental technology and accounting. As a Gutowski student I would like to remind you how important for example gnathology is. With the study group colleagues have the opportunity for interdisciplinary education. This makes them more competent in estimating their abilities and limitations. HOW IS YOUR PRACTICE ORGANIZED? DR. GAISER I work in equal partnership with two young colleagues. My own areas of interest are implantology, periodontics and gnathology. Dr. Andreas Sahm is a specialist in oral surgery with a primary focus on implantology, periodontics and red-white esthetics. My other partner, Dr. Carsten Rien, works in endodontics, esthetic dentistry and pediatric dentistry. We also have a practitioner in holistic therapy and an anesthetist who comes into the practice when anesthetic treatment is required. Our practice named Die Zahnärzte Dr. Hans Gaiser und Partner covers almost all areas of dentistry. We have the goal of offering our patients everything from one source based on almost 30 years of experience. Because appearances do count, we have recently renovated our practice space. FROM NEEDLE IMPLANTS TO A SUPERVISION PRACTICE HOW DID YOU GET INTO IMPLANTOLOGY? DR. GAISER I started 30 years ago with needle implants, subperiosteal implants and Linkow blades. I received my training in oral surgery with Horst Sauer, an orthodontic surgeon in Constance, Germany. After establishing my own practice we started with bone grafting for preparation of the implant site in the early 1980s. Since the mid-1980s I have been working internationally as a lecturer in implantology, I conduct surgery courses and surgical partnerships. We have been accredited as a training and supervision practice by the German Society for Implantology (DGI) since 2005. WHAT GOALS DO YOU HAVE FOR YOUR STUDY GROUP? DR. GAISER We want to develop a more interdisciplinary focus and continue bringing experts in dental medicine to Constance. For example, this year Hans-Jürgen Hartmann, Philippe Ledermann and Dieter Reusch are on the list of lecturers. We make sure that our continuing education programs are always contemporary through our contacts with German and international profession associations and with leading implant manufacturers such as Dentsply Friadent. Our study group is open to all who want to grow with implantology. ■ Dr. Hans Gaiser Certified in implantology and periodontics (BDIZ, EDA, DGZI, DGOI), Diplomate of Implantology (ICOI) Teaching and Supervision Practice of DGI IDENTITY | 49 LAKE CONSTANCE EUREGIO STUDY GROUP Dr. Hans Gaiser established the study group in November 2004 in Constance, Germany. With more than 300 members in Germany, Switzerland and Austria it is the largest German-language continuing education initiative in implantology – and so far the only international group.
