DAY OF THE LORD
And this shall be the plague wherewith the Lord will smite all the
people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume
away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume
away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.
(ZEC 14:12)
Jerusalem here refers to the Church, the true Jerusalem rather than the
earthly Jerusalem that killed the prophets and stoned those that were
sent unto her, and to whom the Lord said, “Behold, your house is left
unto you desolate.” (Matt 23:37-38) The people that are fighting
against her are Gog and Magog and all the earth that is now gathered
around Satan in his final assault on the Church. There was a movie
made about what would happen in a Thermo-nuclear war. The movie
was actually very well researched, it was called “The Day After.” Any
one who had watched that movie will relate to the words “Their flesh
shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes
shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away
in their mouth.” The Bible even tells us how this massive thermonuclear
war will come to pass:
And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the Lord
shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of
his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his
neighbour. (Zec 14:13)
And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains,
saith the Lord God: every man's sword shall be against his brother.
(Eze 38:21)
What this suggests is that the Lord will cause confusion among the
multitude of nations coming to destroy the Church, so that, instead,
their weapons shall be deployed against each other. Imagine if all the
nuclear warheads that are left in the apostate world would be fired in
all directions. That is what these passages suggest to me. The whole
earth will be a gigantic ball of fire. The prophet Isaiah gives us the grim
result in Isaiah 34:9
And the streams thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof
into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become burning pitch.
