Paramount's "Streets of Laredo" at the Majestic.
Lloyd Rust, partner in the four Gene Autry
theatres in Oak Cliff, is home from a vacation
trip. Spending only a few hours each
day looking after his theatre interests, Lloyd
now spends a lot of his time in his home
carpenter shop and his rose garden.
Mr. and Mrs. P. A. "Bob" Warner had as
house guest Mrs. Lawson Burdett of Jacksonville.
Pla. Sunday (22) the Warners entertained
with a Texas barbecue. Food was
served ranch style on the lawn. Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Bemis and son Gene and his bride,
and Hal Norfleet were dinner guests . . .
Basil O'Neil, late of Hollywood, has opened
an interior decorating business in Dallas.
One of his first contracts was decorating
the display room and offices of the new
Manley building at 2013-15 Young St. O'Connor
is a native Texan.
To Screenplay "September'
Andrew Solt will write the final screenplay
on Paramount's "September."
MIAMI—The Miracle Theatre on Miracle
Mile is one of Coral Gables' brightest spots.
Wometco officials frankly report that this
showplace is attracting a volume of business
which they did not expect for at least another
three or four years.
"Our purpose was to build a theatre which
would be adequate, and of which the people
might be proud, not only today but ten or
15 years from now. We must admit that we
underestimated the present business potential
of Coral Gables. The Miracle Theatre
already is beginning to justify our faith in
the progress we expected of the city," said
Mitchell Wolfson, co-owner with Sidney
Meyer of the Wometco Theatres.
Wolfson pointed out the trend indicates
that prompt action toward the establishment
of off-street parking in the area is even
more urgent than it has been considered.
"Potential customers for any business will
drive three or four miles to avoid walking
two or three blocks," .said Wolfson," and while
this problem has not yet become a serious
one in Coral Gables, the time when it will
be serious is near at hand unle.ss we act
promptly."
The Miracle, with 1,600 seats, is the third
largest theatre in greater Miami and was
designed and equipped to achieve the elegance
and comfort of a luxurious downtown
