Theatre have been given two weeks notice.<br />

but this does not Indicate the Immediate<br />

closing of this long established entertainment<br />

landmark. Theatre booking.s have been made<br />

through December and there is reason to<br />

believe that there will be no change during<br />

the winter. The Euclid East 105th .street area<br />

is a highly competitive one. It has four<br />

theatres, beside the RKO house. They are<br />

the 3.000-seal Park, the 1,975-seat Circle,<br />

1.300-seat Alhambra and the 900-seat University.<br />

The RKO East 105th Street has<br />

2,815 seats, making a total of 7,175 seats<br />

within two blocks.<br />

It has not yet been definitely determined<br />

when "'The Robe" will be available to smalltown<br />

theatres without stereophonic .sound, nor<br />

even to which theatres it will be made available.<br />

Leo Jones, whose Star Theatre, Upper<br />

Sandusky, will be one of the experimental<br />

theatres, is still waiting for a date . . . Word<br />

was received here that Norrls Wilson, who<br />

operates the Cadiz Drive-In. Cadiz, was<br />

killed while on a hunting trip in West Virginia<br />

Lefkowich. one of the Community<br />

circuit officials, and Mrs. Lefkowich<br />

are spending the winter in Golden Beach, Fla.,<br />

where they have purchased a home . . . Al<br />

Sunshine of Advanads and family moved into<br />

their new Shaker Heights home.<br />

Charles Meyer of the Karolyn Theatre,<br />

Ochs is back from Florida<br />

for a couple of weeks to meet with his<br />

Canadian drive-in associates. He plans to<br />

rejoin Mrs. Ochs in Dania, near HolbTiood<br />

Beach, for Christmas . . . Also back from<br />

Florida for short business visits are Howard<br />

Reif of Modern Theatres and P. L. Tanner<br />

of Film Transit Co.<br />

Rufus Blair of Paramount studios was<br />

town with Joan and Jean Corbett on behalf<br />

in<br />

of "Here Come the Girls." They ap-<br />

peared on the theatre-sponsored weekly TV<br />

show. "Lights. Camera. Questions." and also<br />

in the May Co. department store as judges<br />

of the annual amateur photography exhibit.<br />

Variety Club, which had a good crowd<br />

its first attending affair of the year dualing<br />

a testimonial for Henry Greenberger, who has<br />

completed two years as chief barker, and the<br />

initiation of Jack Silverthorne as this year's<br />

chief barker, announced its winter program<br />

of monthly membership luncheons will be<br />

launched January 11 in the Hollenden hotel.<br />

Bill Gordon of Radio station WHK is entertainment<br />

chairman . . . Cleveland Cinema<br />

club is holding its annual Chiistmas party<br />

December 16 in the Presbyterian church at<br />

Euclid and Nela avenue. Mrs. Marie Jackson<br />

is president. One of the speakers will be Mrs.<br />

Sperry. mother of Mrs. Elna Gebhart, and<br />

a native of Holland, who has made a wide<br />

reputation as a teller of Hans Christian<br />

Andersen tales. She was guest of honor at<br />

the opening of "Hans Christian Andersen" at<br />

the Hippodrome.<br />
