Tourism Victoria’s Board, appointed<br />
under the Tourism Victoria Act 1992,<br />
provides strategic direction for<br />
Tourism Victoria.<br />
Chairman – Dr Janine Kirk am<br />
Dr Janine Kirk currently works for<br />
Ernst & Young as a Partner. Prior<br />
to her appointment she was Chief<br />
Executive Officer of the Committee for<br />
Melbourne, for 12 years, and Chairman<br />
of the Melbourne Convention and<br />
Visitors Bureau, for seven years.<br />
Kirk was awarded an AM in the<br />
Queen’s Birthday Honours List<br />
in 2004 for services to the city of<br />
Melbourne, through contributions to<br />
the identification, design and facilitation<br />
of projects to enhance the business,<br />
tourism, cultural and intellectual<br />
standing of the city, and to child welfare<br />
organisations. Janine Kirk was first<br />
appointed to the Tourism Victoria Board<br />
in October 2007 and was appointed as<br />
Chairman in August 2008.<br />
Deputy Chair – Ms Pamela Catty<br />
Pamela Catty was the Group General<br />
Manager of Corporate Affairs at<br />
Coles Myer Ltd until November 2007.<br />
Ms Catty is a graduate of the Australian<br />
Institute of Company Directors. She was<br />
appointed to Tourism Victoria’s Board in<br />
April 2000 and is a member of Tourism<br />
Victoria’s Corporate Governance and<br />
Audit Committee.<br />
Mr Geoffrey Conaghan<br />
Geoffrey Conaghan is Melbourne<br />
Airport’s Corporate Affairs Manager<br />
and is responsible for corporate and<br />
community image, relationships with<br />
the tourism industry and international<br />
air services growth. Mr Conaghan<br />
was first appointed as a member of<br />
Tourism Victoria’s Board in 1998 and<br />
is a member of Tourism Victoria’s<br />
Corporate Governance and Audit<br />
Committee.<br />
Mr Brian Cook<br />
Brian Cook is one of Australia's most<br />
respected sporting administrators, and<br />
the Chief Executive of the Australian<br />
Football League (AFL) Geelong Football<br />
Club. During his tenure at Geelong,<br />
Cook has overhauled the club's<br />
business operations and overseen a<br />
dramatic transformation in the club's<br />
finance to lead the club back to financial<br />
wellbeing. In 2007 Geelong secured<br />
the AFL Premiership and under Cook's<br />
management, the club has signed a raft<br />
of new corporate partners and secured<br />
the redevelopment of Skilled Stadium.<br />
Mr Cook was appointed to the Tourism<br />
Victoria Board in May 2008.<br />
Ms Penelope Hutchinson<br />
Penny Hutchinson is Director,<br />
Arts Victoria. Ms Hutchinson was<br />
previously a partner of BDO Nelson<br />
Parkhill Chartered Accountants from<br />
1995–2000. Ms Hutchinson was<br />
appointed to the Tourism Victoria Board<br />
in October 2007. She is a member<br />
of the Corporate Governance and<br />
Audit Committee.<br />
Mr John Mitchell<br />
John Mitchell is the Chairman of<br />
Mornington Peninsula Tourism and<br />
is the owner and Managing Director<br />
of Montalto Vineyard and Olive Grove<br />
at Red Hill. He has had substantial<br />
commercial business experience,<br />
including the following roles:<br />
• International Marketing Director,<br />
Nabisco Biscuits, with operations<br />
in 45 countries<br />
• Chairman of food businesses<br />
in 12 provinces of China<br />
• General Manager, Nabisco Australia<br />
• Managing Director, Plumrose<br />
Australia.<br />
Mr Mitchell’s main focus now is<br />
the promotion of Montalto and<br />
the Mornington Peninsula Region to<br />
international and domestic markets.<br />
He was appointed to the Tourism<br />
Victoria Board in October 2007.<br />
Ms Bee Ho Teow<br />
Bee Ho Teow is the Chief Operations<br />
Officer of Australian Tours Management<br />
Pty Ltd, a member of the Victorian<br />
Tourism Awards Hall of Fame and<br />
a winner of the Australian National<br />
Tourism Award. Ms Teow is also<br />
Managing Director of the TravelSpirit<br />
Group Limited, a major outbound tour<br />
wholesaler. She first served on Tourism<br />
Victoria’s Board from 1995 to 1997<br />
and was reappointed in 2000.<br />
Mr Greg Sword<br />
Greg Sword is the Executive Chairman<br />
of the Labour Union Co-operative<br />
Retirement Superannuation Fund<br />
and the Labour Union Insurance<br />
Company. He is a member of the State<br />
Government’s Innovation Economy<br />
Advisory Board and is also a trustee of<br />
the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve and<br />
the National Jockeys’ Trust. Mr Sword<br />
was awarded a Lifetime Recognition<br />
Award by the Victorian Government<br />
and the Victorian Manufacturing Industry<br />
Consultative Council for exceptional<br />
services to the Victorian manufacturing<br />
industry. He was appointed to the<br />
Tourism Victoria Board in July 2004<br />
and is a member of Tourism Victoria’s<br />
Corporate Governance and Audit<br />
Committee.<br />
Ms Alla Wolf-Tasker am<br />
Alla Wolf-Tasker is the Managing<br />
Director, Executive Chef, Co-founder<br />
and Co-proprietor of the Lake House<br />
Restaurant and Boutique Hotel in<br />
Daylesford. She is a founding member<br />
of the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges<br />
Regional Campaign Committee and is<br />
chair of Daylesford Macedon Produce.<br />
Ms Wolf-Tasker was appointed to the<br />
Melbourne Food and Wine Tourism<br />
Council in 2003 and the Tourism Victoria<br />
Board in 2001.<br />
Janelle Boynton<br />
Janelle Boynton is the General Manager<br />
of Boynton’s Feathertop Winery,<br />
Porepunkah. Janelle has been active in<br />
the promotion of the food and wine<br />
industry in Victoria, serving as a member<br />
of the Victorian Food and Wine Tourism<br />
Council and as Chair of the North East<br />
Valleys Food and Wine Group. Janelle<br />
Boynton was appointed to the Tourism<br />
Victoria Board in August 2008.<br />
The Tourism Victoria Board met on<br />
seven occasions in 2007–08, with two<br />
of those meetings held in regional<br />
Victoria, in Gippsland and Torquay.<br />
