A number of new developments<br />
opened in the 2007–08. Mantra<br />
Deep Blue Resort in Warrnambool,<br />
was officially opened by Minister for<br />
Tourism and Major Events, Tim Holding<br />
in November 2007. The development<br />
comprises 60 apartment style rooms,<br />
with an in-house spa and bath house<br />
facility. Stage two of the project<br />
includes an additional 40 apartments.<br />
The Silverwater Resort, San Remo was<br />
officially opened by Tourism Victoria<br />
Chief Executive, Gregory Hywood<br />
in October 2007. The development<br />
comprises 184 apartments, conference<br />
facilities, restaurant and recreation<br />
facilities. The Hotel Ibis, Glen Waverley<br />
was officially opened in June 2008 by<br />
the Minister for Tourism and Major<br />
Events, Tim Holding and Kuwait’s Sheikh<br />
Mubarak Abdulla Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.<br />
The $25.5 million, three-star hotel<br />
has 155 rooms, conference facilities<br />
and forms part of the Century City<br />
Walk entertainment complex in Glen<br />
Waverley.<br />
Advisory Services<br />
Tourism Victoria also produced the<br />
Geothermal and Natural Mineral Water<br />
Tourism Investment Opportunities, a<br />
publication designed to provide a<br />
broad insight into the demand for<br />
services and facilities, location and<br />
characteristics of Victoria’s geothermal<br />
and natural mineral water resources,<br />
the opportunities available to expand<br />
and establish new facilities and an<br />
indication of the success of overseas<br />
developments with the potential to be<br />
replicated in Victoria. The publication<br />
has been distributed to all of Tourism<br />
Victoria’s industry stakeholders and the<br />
broader investment community.<br />
The Tourism Investment Guidelines: Your<br />
Guide to Tourism Investment in Victoria<br />
were produced and are now available<br />
from the Tourism Victoria website.<br />
These guidelines provide assistance and<br />
advice on developing tourism product<br />
and infrastructure in Victoria.<br />
